The Fashion World Of Jean Paul Gaultier

French enfant terrible of pop couture Jean Paul Gaultier is one of my fashion heros. In 1990, when he designed the clothes of Madonna's Blond Ambition Tour (my other hero, as you know), I saw his sketches of the stage clothes in magazines at bookstores and they were art pieces of their own. His drawings were A-MA-ZING and truly an inspiration for me to draw!

I never tried to copy his style (there was no internet around that time, no google whatsoever), but when I look at my own illustrations, I definitely see a similarity in his and my signature. We both love black thick and thin lines. Remember I was a little boy around that time (I was eleven years old), and as the years went by I forgot this first encounter of illustration art.

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier in Rotterdam

This week I visited the great exposition The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier in Rotterdam. Over a hundred and forty original creations from the early 1970s to the present day, and from both his haute couture collections and his ready-to-wear lines, can be seen at the Kunsthal. When you love fashion it's an EYE-mazing fingerlicking rollercoaster of beautiful dresses, dessins, colours, shoes, wigs and fabrics. Big surpise to me were the moving faces, projected on some to the mannequins.

What a surreal experience! Absolutely gorgeous and innovating concept!

I made lots of pictures (great atmosphere, lights and themes), and when I was walking by all the lovely designs of the master I saw them... His illustrations. The real ones.

WOW! Flashback! This was such a precious moment to me (no I did not cry)... I also saw some of Jean Paul Gaultier's creations for Madonna, and I felt like I was the happiest gay in the world. How cool! You could even touch the black corset he made for Madonna's MDNA Tour. Heaven!

The exposition ended on May 12th, 2013. At the end of the expo you could buy lots of great Jean Paul Gaultier stuff. The ARTBAG specially designed for this was for sale too! The proceeds of this bag went to the STOP AIDS NOW! foundation. And you have your own real Jean Paul Gaultier bag!

Cook time:
Total time:

Ingredients
  • a can of black beans, rinsed and cooked for 1 hour. (about 240 gr of black beans after draining them)
  • 2 teaspoons broken flaxseeds
  • 4 tsp water
  • 10 gr raw cocoa powder
  • 40 gr oatmeal flakes
  • ⅙ tsp salt
  • 75 gr sweetness (I used a mix of 40 gr of maple syrup and 35 gr of agave syrup)
  • 20 gr coconut oil
  • 20 gr cacao butter
  • 1½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 130 gr chocolate chips or small pieces of chocolate of your choice
  • 4 table spoons of shredded coconut
  • decoration:
  • mint leaves
  • frozen blue berries
  • half a cup of beet juice

Instructions
  1. Heat oven at 180C (about 350F)
  2. Mix the broken flaxseeds with the water until it becomes a jelly
  3. Mix all other products in a mixer except the chocolate chips.
  4. Afterwards mix in the chocolate chips in the dough with a spoon
  5. Pour the dough into a non stick or buttered up baking pan and preferably make a ½ inch thick layer of dough.
  6. Bake it in 15-18 minutes.
  7. Let it cool a bit and cut the brownie into squares.
  8. Pour a bit of coconut flakes on top, which will make it look a bit like Winter.
  9. For the sauce in the picture I mixed a bit of beet juice and frozen blueberries and warmed it for a second so it mixes. I poured it on the plate with a spoon in a pattern.
  10. For decoration you can use a small mint leaf.
  11. Serve with a scoop of organic ice cream, like vanilla ice cream.
  12. Enjoy!

Love, Lonneke

 4. What is your easy thing to take care of your skin or take off makeup?

Teresa: An easy take on skin is to eat the right foods. The purer the better. What you put into you body reflects to your skin. My skin care lines are very cheap and very simple.I wash my face with Dessert essence tea tree oil( I have been using it for over 10 years) . Then I spray my face with pure Rose water from Heritage.( Been using rose oil for 16 years). My moisturizers and serum's are the only things that I switch up but it has to be natural preferably organic . I love organic Argan oil for my face at night.  For my body I use pure coconut oil or rose oil . I take my make up off with Rose water.

 5. Favorite memory of a photo shoot? My favorite memories of photo shoots are always the one's shooting in a tropical Island and feeling like I am on a vacation rather than at work. Eating fresh local foods and drinking lots of coconut water. I have always been the one to request coconuts whenever I am working in a tropical place.
