Blue Monday Green Smoothie

Love this simple yet delicious light Blue Monday morning Green Smoothie! I love to take some maca mixed with it, because my hormonal system is a bit off, and I learned that Maca could help with unbalanced hormones in a body, as well as build stamina, strength and increase fertility :)

Blue Monday Green Smoothie
a simple, light smoothie that gives you a kick on a day when you are feeling blue.With not too many sugars, but just enough to start your day!

Ingredients
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 half diced mango
  • Handfull of fresh spinach
  • a cup of almond milk
  • a cup of coconut water
  • 1 tsp of wheatgrass powder
  • 1 tsp of maca root

Instructions
  1. Blend all together and pour in 2 glasses, enjoy!

Notes
Smoothies are great when you drink them in the morning.
Smoothies are also great if they don't contain too much sugar. Therefore keep the amount of fruits in a smoothie to less than half of the total amount of smoothie you make! A Smoothie preferably made with low glycemic ingredients is the best really.

Maca has been known for helping to support the endocrine system and helps to deal with stress. Maca has shown positive results in people in balancing hormones and increasing fertility as well as building strength and endurance. Maca has an abundance of minerals and vitamins as well as plant protein.

Hi everyone!

Yesterday was my first time being on a tv show ever, showing how to make juices and smoothies and mentioning Organice Your Life®! It was the talk  show by comedian Jandino Asporaat, "De Dino Show"  which is very popular amongst young people in the Netherlands.

I could not stop laughing while I was there! Jandino and the other two guests: Philippe Geubels (a Belgian comedian) and Adje ( A Dutch rapper) were so funny! I hope to be back sometime in the future and I hope to do more of these shows too!

I showed 2 recipes:

cilantro soup

Coriander (cilantro) spinach and zucchini soup recipe

Fall is here!

So time for nurturing, warming soups.

The recipe is below.

Just note I add ricotta for some smoothing texture and taste, but you don't have to. I like to add it instead of cream, it tastes great and not so bad for you. Don't we all like that? :)

Coriander (cilantro) spinach and zucchini soup recipe
This soup is very fast and easy to make!

Ingredients
  • water
  • 2 (vegetarian) bouillon cubes
  • salt & pepper
  • 1 chopped zucchini
  • 1 chopped onion
  • handful of cilantro/coriander
  • 2 handful of rinsed spinach
  • ricotta

Instructions
  1. Heat the water with the bouillon cubes and the salt and pepper in a stock pot.
  2. Add the chopped zucchini.
  3. In a separate pan fry the chopped onion until golden.
  4. Add the onion to the soup
  5. Turn soup low when boiling and add the onion.
  6. Add the cilantro/coriander.
  7. Blend the soup until smooth.
  8. put a handful of spinach into a bowl and pour the soup over it.
  9. Add pepper/salt to liking.
  10. Add a spoonful of ricotta in middle of soup.
  11. Soup is ready to serve!

You need a blender.

Raw Green Coconut shake

As a raw foodie I live of coconuts, spinach and kale so here is one of my favorite shakes that I have every day.

To make this shake you need a full coconut, a handful of kale without the stems and a hand full of spinach and a banana.(As an option you can add a table spoon or 2 of hemp seeds for added protein or sun warrior raw protein powder) I usually add protein powder after a work out to the smoothie.

To make the shake crack  the coconut  and take out the coconut water and flesh . Put it into the blender with one banana, spinach and kale and bend till smooth and creamy.

This takes about 10 min to do .

This is what I have for breakfast almost every day or after a workout. I hope you can enjoy it as much as I do:)


The Green Smoothie

I want to share another great recipe.  It's super easy to make and very beneficial for your health; I have to tell.  The ingredients you'll need for this recipe Im sure you have in your fridge right now, but you'd never think to combine them all together.  So, let' see:

  • 1 or 2 bananas
  • 1 Gala apple
  • 2 cups of spinach
  • 2 cups of fresh water

Put everything in blender and run for 30 sec, or until everything blends very well.  That's it!  The Green Smoothie is ready.

It's so yummy, you wouldn't believe it!  Don't worry about the spinach; you will not taste it at all.  All you taste are bananas and apple!  The spinach adds so many vitamins and minerals to this drink!

You can have it for breakfast or dinner or as a snack in between the meals.

If you like this recipe, later you can experiment with different greens: kale, arugula, mint, romaine, etc.  As with fruits, you can use blueberries, pears, melons, or mangos.

This smoothie contains so many nutrients your body craves that by drinking it, you will loose your cravings for unhealthy food.

Carrot lentil burgers

When I bought a juicer, to make my own fresh juice, I started to think what I could do with the pulp.

The moment I made carrot juice, I thought, I can try to imitate the carrot beignets I got at Piet Hein Eek Restaurant last week, with the leftover pulp!

Ingredients I used:

*carrot pulp

*lentils in a can

*fresh parsley

*1 onion.

*salt

*pepper

*olive oil.

* fresh spinach.

How to make?

Put all ingredients in a blender and chop it until it becomes of a smooth consistency.

Then use a spoon to take an amount out, and use your hands to form a round burger like figure.  Put a pan on the stove and on  medium heat add some light olive oil and the burgers in the pan.

Turn them around when the bottom gets a bit brown. (If your burger falls apart, just use a spoon to form it back to the original form. ) In another pan, let the spinach shrink. Serve together when ready. Add some yoghurt dressing (or another dressing) for extra flavor)
