Breakfast smoothie

Hello, lovely OYL readers! Today I want to share a breakfast smoothie. It contains fruits - for vitamins, leafy greens - for minerals and avocado - for fat (natural, high quality plant-based fat), which is a key ingredient for beautiful, glowing skin.

Ingredients
  • 1 peeled orange
  • ½ pineapple
  • ½ cucumber (do not peel organic cucumber! skin contains essential minerals)
  • handful peppermint
  • handful kale
  • ½ avocado
  • 1 cup water

Instructions
  1. Place orange, cucumber, pineapple and water in high speed blender.
  2. Blend till smooth consistency.
  3. Add kale, peppermint and avocado.
  4. Blend again.
  5. READY!

Blue Monday Green Smoothie

Love this simple yet delicious light Blue Monday morning Green Smoothie! I love to take some maca mixed with it, because my hormonal system is a bit off, and I learned that Maca could help with unbalanced hormones in a body, as well as build stamina, strength and increase fertility :)

Ingredients
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 half diced mango
  • Handfull of fresh spinach
  • a cup of almond milk
  • a cup of coconut water
  • 1 tsp of wheatgrass powder
  • 1 tsp of maca root

Instructions
  1. Blend all together and pour in 2 glasses, enjoy!

Notes
Smoothies are great when you drink them in the morning.
Smoothies are also great if they don't contain too much sugar. Therefore keep the amount of fruits in a smoothie to less than half of the total amount of smoothie you make! A Smoothie preferably made with low glycemic ingredients is the best really.

Maca has been known for helping to support the endocrine system and helps to deal with stress. Maca has shown positive results in people in balancing hormones and increasing fertility as well as building strength and endurance. Maca has an abundance of minerals and vitamins as well as plant protein.

Ingredients
  • 1 diced ripe mango without skin
  • 1 sliced apple without skin
  • cup of almondmilk
  • 1tsp wheatgrass powder
  • 1tsp spirulina
  • 1tsp lucuma
  • 2tsp hemp protein

Instructions
  1. Add all ingredients in a blender and blend all together until a smooth texture.

Notes
Instead of almond milk you can use rice milk, or a mix of both. (You can also substitute with another milk you love)

The tsp of spirulina & wheatgrass are for extra minerals and health, and give the smoothie the green coloring. You can of course make this smoothie without these ingredients.

Lucuma powder comes from the lucuma fruit. it is a low glycemic sweetener, and has a mix of nutrients including iron, B3, beta-carotene, calcium, zinc & iron.

 


Juice top 5 for hot weather

When the weather is hot, you need to cool down! Below is my simple Juice top 5 for any hot Summer day. (no sugar added)

1. Fruit flavored water /ice tea

Add slices of lemon, lime & mint to your cold water with ice cubes. Any other fruit like fresh berries is delicious too! You can also make this an ice tea version by making hot tea and letting it cool off and adding it to the water.

2. Coconut water

This is my nr. 1 favorite cooling down drink. It's delicious, but coconut water is also a great sports drink and rehydrates your body like no other drink (the PH values of coconut water are the same as of your blood!)

3. Cucumber juice

Yes try it: juice 2 or 3 cucumbers and cool this drink for an hour. It is so simple and delicious!

4. Water melon juice

This is sooo good! Also, juice half a melon and you have a delicious, nutritious juice!

Blend a juicy pear,mint with crushed ice. don't forget a (glass) straw! It is so refreshing

Green smoothie with banana date & coconut

Sometimes I crave a smoothie as it is sweet and easy to digest. A smoothie helps my digestion going and I get many important nutrients in my body at the beginning of a long day. It gives me energy and especially when I am not feeling well this gives me an enormous boost in the morning.

Today I had a green smoothie. But don't get fooled by the green, the color disguised a delicious sweet taste! The smoothie was so good and the color comes from the chlorella in the green powder by Healthforce Superfoods. All beyond organic and vegan:

  • 1 banana
  • 2 cups of almond milk

  • 1 big date or 2 small dates (remove pit)

  • 1 teaspoon Vitamineral Green powder by Healthforce Superfood

Instructions
  1. Add to blender.
  2. Mix.
  3. Pour into glass.
  4. Enjoy!

Notes
You can substitute with Spirulina, chlorella or any other green powder with many boosting minerals & vitamins.

Lonneke on De Dino Show

Hi everyone!

Yesterday was my first time being on a tv show ever, showing how to make juices and smoothies and mentioning Organice Your Life®! It was the talk  show by comedian Jandino Asporaat, "De Dino Show"  which is very popular amongst young people in the Netherlands.

I could not stop laughing while I was there! Jandino and the other two guests: Philippe Geubels (a Belgian comedian) and Adje ( A Dutch rapper) were so funny! I hope to be back sometime in the future and I hope to do more of these shows too!

I showed 2 recipes:

You want to incorporate healthy foods like smoothies into your life but don't know where to start? I give you some easy simple tips so you can start right away!

STEP 1: Buy a GOOD BLENDER. The quality of the blender is really important because a smoothie really needs to be blended well to get best result for taste and texture. The more watts usually means better crushing of tough foods like kale or ice. I like the ones with a square glass container as it helps the blending process. (foods are thrown into the corner and bounce back into the middle.) There are many good ones. Vitamix, Magimix and Breville are good brands. Check out reviews online before you buy yours. the sound of the machine while working is important too. I don't like it when it is making too much noise.

STEP 2: Work with FRESH CLEAN FOODS. The most important thing is that you always work with foods that are good to eat. Not going bad.  And cleaned thoroughly. As it changes the flavor right away and maybe ruins the whole smoothie if you put in only one ingredient that is not totally clean or fresh. leafy Greens are great as they have A LOT of essential minerals and vitamins. in a smoothie with fruits you won't taste it but you take it in. Try it! Options are: Spinach, Kale, Parsley Collard Greens, Romaine.. anything you like. They are good juiced too :) Other vegetables like carrots and beets can work too. STEP 3: SAFETY. Place the blender in a safe place when you work with it and make sure the lid is tight.

 FORMULA OF A SMOOTHIE:

1. 1/3 liquid (That can be anything you like: water, almond milk, rice milk, milk, hemp milk, soy milk etc)

2. 2/3 fruits and vegetables you want to blend. (the more fruits, the sweeter it will taste.)

3. spoonful of extra ingredients like vitamin powders.

blending takes +/- 15 seconds. So making this is like less than 5 minutes with cleaning the ingredients and the blender included!

So my favorite smoothie is:

-Almond milk

-Kale

-Banana

-Vitamineral or Detox powder or any healthy powder.

Just blend and enjoy! Or I get it at Juice Generation at Equinox Gym, that's easy too ;)

Raw chocolate, maca coconut shake

Hey Guys here is a simple recipe for a raw chocolate shake.
This shake is packed with antioxidants, protein, essential fatty acids and minerals.

Raw cocoa nibs are packed with essential minerals and vitamins, including magnesium, sulfur, calcium, iron, zinc, copper, potassium and vitamin C.  To top it off its very high in fiber.

Maca powder is known to  balance your hormones. It has been used  to increase stamina, boost libido and combat fatigue. Maca is a nutrient-dense whole food full of vitamins, essential minerals, fatty amino acids.

To make this shake all you need is a young coconut, raw cacao nibs, maca and a banana.

Blend the coconut flesh, coconut water, banana, 1 or 2 table spoons of cacao nibes, 1 table spoon of Maca powder as an option to sweeten add agave .
Being  healthy can be so easy.

Raw Green Coconut shake

As a raw foodie I live of coconuts, spinach and kale so here is one of my favorite shakes that I have every day.

To make this shake you need a full coconut, a handful of kale without the stems and a hand full of spinach and a banana.(As an option you can add a table spoon or 2 of hemp seeds for added protein or sun warrior raw protein powder) I usually add protein powder after a work out to the smoothie.

To make the shake crack  the coconut  and take out the coconut water and flesh . Put it into the blender with one banana, spinach and kale and bend till smooth and creamy.

This takes about 10 min to do .

This is what I have for breakfast almost every day or after a workout. I hope you can enjoy it as much as I do:)


Strawberry-Nibbed Smoothie

HI LOVES! ITS BEEN AGES & I'M JUST A LITTLE HIGH ON CACAO LOVE RIGHT NOW WITH ALL THE FUN WE'VE HAD SHOOTING FOR MY BOOK (Model Chocolate) (BTS pic - it's all that cacao) ... TO SHARE THE LOVE HERE'S A SPUNKY LITTLE SMOOTHIE THAT'S SERIOUSLY DELICIOUS EASY & DEF NOT  SENSIBLE THAT YOU CAN USE >>> NOW. MMM (THIS SHOULD SOO BE IN MY BOOK!) MAKETH ONE SO CONTAGIOUSLY GLEEFUL! :D

 

Ingredients:

1 young green coconut, water & pulp

1 handful of raw cashews

1 heaped cup frozen strawberries

1/2 cup frozen blueberries

1 cup water

1 tablespoon cacao nibs (oooohhhllaalaa)

1 tablespoon chia seeds

In the blender - cream cashews & frozen strawberries with coconut water, add everything else, BLEND until smooth. SOO YUM. Only beware - you may get the happies while taking in this EXTREME beauty food. Makes two medium or one big smoothie.

Tip: this smoothie is excellent for people wanting to avoid excess sugars, a lovely treat if you're on an anti-candida diet. Low glycemic, hydrating goodness.

The Green Smoothie

I want to share another great recipe.  It's super easy to make and very beneficial for your health; I have to tell.  The ingredients you'll need for this recipe Im sure you have in your fridge right now, but you'd never think to combine them all together.  So, let' see:

  • 1 or 2 bananas
  • 1 Gala apple
  • 2 cups of spinach
  • 2 cups of fresh water

Put everything in blender and run for 30 sec, or until everything blends very well.  That's it!  The Green Smoothie is ready.

It's so yummy, you wouldn't believe it!  Don't worry about the spinach; you will not taste it at all.  All you taste are bananas and apple!  The spinach adds so many vitamins and minerals to this drink!

You can have it for breakfast or dinner or as a snack in between the meals.

If you like this recipe, later you can experiment with different greens: kale, arugula, mint, romaine, etc.  As with fruits, you can use blueberries, pears, melons, or mangos.

This smoothie contains so many nutrients your body craves that by drinking it, you will loose your cravings for unhealthy food.
