5 tips for Smart Grocery Shopping

Shopping for groceries is one of your most occurring activities in life. Some go every day, while others go once a week. Here are my 5 tips to keep in mind next time you go shopping in a supermarket, so you know what is going on, and how you can make healthier purchase choices and maybe even save some money! This way you only bring good food choices to your home.

1. Never go shopping when you are hungry

You will buy much more, and probably more bad things too!

2. Usually not the best food choices are stored on eye level in the grocery store

The products that are on eye level, and on the corners of aisles, are usually the ones the company pay the most to be put there, as they generally generate more sales when the products are in sight. It doesn't always mean it is the best, or the cheapest. No, usually they are the junk food. search the whole aisle for better choices. Keep this in mind when you go shopping and search the whole aisle for the better (organic) option.

3. The store floor plan is so planned out for you to have to walk past many aisles

Milk is always put in the back of the store, this because most people need milk, yoghurt butter or eggs. So you have to walk through all the long aisles, and hopefully you get persuaded to put some more products in your basket along the way. The same counts for the area around the cashier. A supermarket puts products there that they know can also get you to buy it. Think sale items, and lots of candy. Usually those are things you don't need but since you are waiting there to pay for your groceries, you might get tricked into adding some to your purchases. Because you think to yourself:" hey, they are cheap" or "I might need them at some point". Be strong and don't do it! If you really need those products, you can always return later to the store.

4. Read food labels

When you can't pronounce what is in it, It is probably not so good for you. You can go online and search what the ingredient is, or buy a book which explains what all the ingredients in the products you buy are. Any ingredient that  includes "genetically ", "modified", "High Fructose syrup" is likely to be not good for you and usually the same counts for ingredients with names that sound like they could be components to make a bomb. (you never know!)

5. Buy mostly fresh produce

Don't buy too much canned or prepackaged. Frozen is ok. Don't buy for a whole week. come back a few times in a week, and just buy what you need for those 2 or 3 days. Otherwise by the end of the week you have to throw away a lot of things that have gone bad, and this way you save money!

10 favorite healthy NYC restaurants

I love eating healthy food and I prefer to visit affordable restaurants! This is the list of my 10 favorite healthy NYC restaurants in 2019, where you can go and find healthy food any time of the day. I have stated which ones have good gluten-free options, and all restaurants are in different price categories as well as locations on Manhattan (where I live) My first choice would always going for an organic restaurant, and most of them in my list do focus on offering organic food, except for a few. These are easy going restaurants the bring-your-friends-or-family kind ( no reason to overdress), with a good take-out and delivery selections.

MY Top 10 favorite healthy NYC restaurants of the moment:

  1. le Pain Quotidien (LPQ): This is a staple place to visit whenever you need a good breakfast or lunch. As a true dutchie, I love bread. Since I stick to a gluten-free diet, I am so happy that they have THE BEST GLUTENFREE BREAD IN THE WORLD! There, I said it. LPQ also has great salads, breakfast items, many vegan and vegetarian options (a leaf sign on the menu means the dish is plant based), and most of what they serve is organic. This also counts for their coffee and decaf coffee. My favorites are the different tartines, the chia seed pudding, the lentil avocado salad. LPQ is take out and sit down. Multiple locations around the city. $ www.lepainquotidien.com
  2. HU Kitchen: This is a great place with paleo dishes and take out treats and juices. That means everything is gluten-free, no dairy, and organic. They serve organic meat, chicken and vegetarian plates.  My favorite is the chicken burger. Every weekday they have a special, sometimes that is a vegan and gluten-free pizza (love it!) One location on 5th avenue between 13th and 14th $$ www.hukitchen.com

  3. Dr. Smood: a chain with restaurants all over the city, this place calls itself "probably the healthiest cafe in town. They have a philosophy that people should spend their money on organic healthy food (the real healthcare as they say) and not on doctors. I love getting chocolate treats here, and the strawberry shake is delicious. www.drsmood.com
  4. Caravan of Dreams: A hole in the wall, this eclectic restaurant is dark and cosy, and a perfect place to take your friends for a vegan meal. Everything is vegan, organic and even kosher. They also serve a lot of raw food dishes. They have live music almost every night of the week. Favorites: all salads are amazing! I like the house salad dressing a lot, and the mediterranean salad. I love their seitan. Also the smoothies are great, and i like the ravioli of the day with sautéed greens, garlic tomato sauce and avocado. The raw brownie for desert is delicious. $   www.CaravanofDreams.net
  5. Spring Natural: Formerly Spring Street Natural restaurant, I order from here a lot as well, as they have daily changing menus, with a lot of vegan and vegetarian options. On top of that they try to get organic and local ingredients where they can. Think of this place as an American healthy diner. The salads are huge and their stir fry with veggies and rice can never go wrong. After 40+ years they moved from Spring street to a location just around the corner on Kenmare street. $    www.SpringStreetNatural.com
  6. Bare Burger: Yes it is an organic restaurant and serve juicy and calorie-rich burgers and milkshakes, they also have a big selection of tasty salads and even many vegan and vegetarian options for a burger. I LOVE the black bean burger, and the fava bean falafel. $ www.bareburger.com

  7. Cafe Clover: This restaurant has a very beautiful look, and I love their out-of-the-box healthy salads and dishes. Sometimes a bit small, and maybe sometimes pricey, it is a nice place to have a nice date with a friend or lover. You can sit outside on the nice terrace too! By the way if you go here, also check out the Clover Grocery next door, as it has delicious organic treats! $$ www.CafeClover.comCafe Clover Salad
  8. Eataly: This inside market across the street from Madison Park gives you a chance to eat the most delicious local dishes. Everything is divided in categories. Of course I like to sit in the vegetable section, and sometimes in the fish section. It is worth a visit even if you don't sit down for food. $$ www.eataly.com
  9. Candle Cafe: I am always amazed by the warm filling nurturing delicious dishes they come up with. Full of many veggies, they are a treat and I keep coming back. The restaurants are completely vegan restaurants and located uptown in the Upper East and Upper West side.  Favorites: anything really. I am drooling just thinking about it. And especially the dishes with seitan. $$ www.Candlecafe.com .

  10. Westville. Probably not organic, but they have the biggest selection of vegetables. I love to order the market vegetables plate with a choice of four vegetables on the market vegetable list. they also have other nice options, I also like the veggie burger. Nice ambiance to hang out with friends.  Multiple locations $ www.westvillenyc.com

Healthy cats

I want to talk about our furry friends and what we feed them every day.

Cats

I am a big cat lover. Since I was little, I always had a cat. My parents didn't have money for "fancy cat food" - prepackaged dry crackers or canned chicken. So, my mom had to feed our cats with raw meat or fish - which is a natural diet for cats in the wild.

New York City

I moved to New York in 2003 . After being here for a while, I got one cat and after a year another one. At first I didn't care what I feed my cats - I never read the labels, I never Googled the company... But once I became conscious of what I eat, I became aware of my cats' diet as well.

My healthy cats' diet

Now their diet consist of 50% organic raw chicken and 50% of high quality canned food. And never tap water! They drink same fresh filtered water as I do. My cats loved " Blue Buffalo" and "Wellness" - these two companies use only real meat and fresh fruits and vegetables in their products.

How to feed your cats the best food

When you shop for pet food, always read labels. Stay away from companies that use bad animal by-products - like " animal carcasses, parts of animal carcasses, products of animal origin which are not intended for human consumption, includes catering waste - all waste food from restaurants, catering facilities, central kitchens, slaughterhouses (!) and household kitchen ' - according to online information. If this information doesn't make you think twice about what you feed your cats, I don't know what will.

When I see my healthy cats, happy, full of energy and with shiny coat - it makes me smile!

Orthorexia: An obsession with healthy eating

When you are obsessed with eating healthy, and your daily life has become all about the decisions and thoughts about healthy food, it can eventually make you sick. Obsessing over healthy eating has a name: Orthorexia Nervosa.

About Orthorexia Nervosa

Next to Bulimia and Anorexia, Orthorexia Nervosa is a (unrecognized) disease that is upcoming, according to a British study. The people that have orthorexia, want to be in charge of everything that gets into their mouth, and it has to be the purest and healthiest form. If not, they feel poisoned. Sometimes they even become scared of eating. This obsession has taken over their life.

RELATED: A story of a woman suffering from Orthorexia.

Social Media

Social Media has also fueled this phenomenon. People following a certain diet, whether it is raw food, plant-based, gluten-free, Paleo, Green juice or even carnivore diet have millions of followers. Some say that elimination diets are part of orthorexia and social media like Instagram are helping this extreme clean eating obsession.

Just realize that you do not know what goes on with all those social media influencers when they are not posting content to their instagram pages. They might still binge late at night, or not be so healthy than what they are appearing to be. (For instance, autoimmune diseases like Diabetes are not easily visible on the outside.) They are not monitored 24/7 and you do not know how their vitals and bloodwork are at that moment. That's why you can only decide how you want to live your life, and what your relationship with food is going to be. You should definitely do the research, but you also need to consciously reflect regularly to make sure you do not go overboard. Every person is different, and every person can tolerate different foods in different ways.

The more places that offer healthy food, the choices for healthy eating will be growing for us people. The people that I know that are into healthy eating, are young, athletic, successful men and women, who say that because of this lifestyle, they have more energy and get more work done. They also say they don't have mood swings as often, as they feel fine most of the time. They are also less likely to drink coffee, alcohol or use drugs to get an "upper". The spirit of life is a natural upper for them! Of course these testimonies help more and more people to go into that "healthy living" direction, and sometimes they all take it to the extremes.

Still, I believe that eating healthy foods IS good for you, but obsessing over it IS NOT.

I believe eating organic and natural foods is the best for your body. And I do also believe you can prevent diseases, and improve quality of life. Just don't go over the top. But thinking about what you put in your mouth every day, is a good thing. People should be more aware of things they eat. But you have to have a balance between eating good, and staying grounded and being social with others instead of living in your own World. It should improve your joy of life and not become a struggle or an obsession!

My experience with bulimia

I am very into healthy eating, but what that is exactly has changed enormously over the years. I might have been going into the orthorexia direction at some point. It happened after I went into the direction of bulimia during Paris Fashion Week in 2006. I was exhausted from the castings and fashion shows of the past weeks, as wel as rejections and not knowing if I would get booked for shows. When I would get home after a show there was no dinner, and there was only chocolate in the room's minibar. I ate the whole bar when I was hungry, but would feel shame that I ate it all, so I would throw up. I realized right away that that was going into the Bulimia direction so I canceled the rest of Fashion Week (I only walked the Isabel Marant Show then) to stop the enormous stress and I went home to NYC to relax. My life was crazy already with people taking advantage of me, like bad financial advisors and my birth mother who thought she was entitled to everything I earned, an eating disorder was the last thing I needed.  I was relieved my amazing booker at IMG Paris understood. I still had a good relationship with clients like Ralph Lauren, and I wanted to focus on that modeling work as it was obviously a better fit for me than walking on the catwalk. Because the reality was that I am a horrible walker in real life, let alone on the catwalk, so this was more stressful for me than other work. On top of that I am not as tall as all the other amazing catwalk models, so I felt like a midget with hips at castings! That's where I got the idea that you just have to focus on things you are good at to avoid stress!

My experience with Orthorexia

After that experience with Bulimia and no dinner available while working, I became more and more interested in healthy eating and being prepared for travel and jobs. I would prepare foods and do research what foods would give me the most energy and what was the most healthy. I have always had low blood pressure so eating foods at certain times was important. At one point I ate healthy foods, cooked healthy foods, thought about healthy eating 24/7, had discussions with my friends about healthy eating, my whole life was about healthy eating. I learned a lot in this period, but it was sometimes a bit obsessed. Like refusing to go to certain restaurants that were considered "unhealthy" and therefore missing out on a nice night out with friends. I was taking it to the extreme.

What helped was that when I fell ill because of a burnout, that obsession for only eating pure and healthy foods luckily faded away. I was just too exhausted and tired to care anymore. All stress, even the stress about healthy eating, added up and caused me to break down. Now years later, eating consciously is important to me though. For me it is fun to eat at and support restaurants and chefs that have good standards. I like to learn about organic farming, and cooking nutritious meals. It makes the World a bit better. But it is not that I think about every bite I eat, or weigh my food. I do sometimes go out of my way if I crave a certain food item, I will go travel to get to that place to eat it. And If I go out to dinner with friends in a social setting, I am relaxed with the foods that are served and enjoy my food. Feeling no stress about food is the most important!

Getting help

If you think you are suffering from orthorexia, don't beat yourself up. If you watch the videos below, you see even dietitians are susceptible to orthorexia! Men and women equally are susceptible to orthorexia, children and elderly are susceptible to orthorexia. It is truly a disease of all ages. There are many ways to get help for this! I will share more stories on OrganiceYourLife.com. There are even places that offer in-house treatments. Also many psycho therapists and dietitians know that orthorexia is on the rise. So don't feel bad, there are more people like us!

That time I did an 1 day juice cleanse

I once did an one day juice cleanse. All the way with the cheesy "I kiss my juice" pictures as proof.  I had a bit hangover from just drinking 2 bellinis at the Operation Smile Ball the day before. So when you don't feel so great, what do you do? Exactly you take care of yourself! Eating really healthy is your own medicine. So I decided to visit Organic Avenue.

About Organic Avenue

Organic Avenue was a vegan and rawfood chain in New York City. It was founded by Denise Mari, and back in the day I did an interview with her. There were so many new Organic Avenue Locations popping up around town at one point. To me it seemed they had a lot of success, but they also seemed to grow too fast. After a few years Denise sold the company, and from what I've read, she came back on board to run the company.  OA incorporated different foods into the menu besides cleanses (the vegan chicken and waffles was great!) but eventually they went out of business :( . Sad story of a vegan health food store I enjoyed so much in NYC! I notice many of my favorite restaurants have gone out of business, it is just part of doing business in New York City.

Now back to the juice cleanse story: There used to be an Organic Avenue Location in Soho, close to where I live, and I decided to do their one day cleanses.

The 1 day juice cleanse

I received 7 bottles of juice. 1 small one to start the day with chlorophyll, and 6 juices.  You were told to drink water in between..

8.30 am

Let's start this juice cleanse! I woke up tired and had my first juice at this time. A chlorophyll shot that made my tongue green! It has a specific taste, but it is not bad. Chlorophyll comes from plants and is an "extremely important bio molecule, critical in photosynthesis, which allows plants to absorb energy from light."- Quote from Wikipedia

10 am

My first real juice is a nice simple orange juice. A great way to start a morning with some sweet citrus fruit juice.

12 pm

Green Love juice. Cucumber, celery, chard, spinach, pear, collard greens, kale, romaine, parsley, lemon juice. This one is a bit hard to drink due to the large amount of greens in this juice. So it took me a bit longer to drink this juice!

2.30 pm

Turmeric Tonic,  lemon juice, ginger juice, purified alkaline water, coconut sugar, turmeric, cayenne pepper, black pepper, cardamom, himalayan salt. This one was spicy but I actually liked this juice! It tasted a bit like something from the Middle East because of the spices. I drank it quite fast.

4.30pm

Veggie Vibe: carrot, cucumber, beet, celery, chard, spinach, ginger, parsley, lemon. This one is hard again! Took me longer time to drink. But you feel really healthy drinking it.

At this point I felt really energized and fit! Getting so many minerals and vitamins in, plus water is really doing good for your body, right?

6.30 pm

Spicy Avocado Soup: avocado, purified alkaline water, spinach, lime juice, celery, cilantro, garlic, Himalayan salt, jalapeño, cumin. This is my least favorite. maybe because of the garlic and that it is thicker. It took me some effort to drink it.

Lonneke & Spicy Avocado Soup
Lonneke & Spicy Avocado Soup

8pm

Last juice of the day! Fresh, sweet coconut juice. I love ending a day like this with something super yummy!

Although some people do cleanses a few days in a row, I think it was nice to just do a one day cleanse. This way it does not "shock" your body while still replenishing your body with the essential nutrients. It is also a great that for that day you have a plan, and the 7 juices keep you on track. You don't have to think what you are gonna eat or what's for dinner at night. The cleanse is telling you that already so it relieves stress that way as well!

Why a one day juice cleanse might be good for you

Because you drink the whole day so you are very much hydrated.  And you don't have much time to feel hungry. Right when you feel hungry, you have the thicker Spicy Avocado soup that is filling. I think anyone can do a 1 day cleanse to just feel better and get rid of toxins or indigestion, if you don't get tempted by any food! So do this during a rainy day when you are likely to stay at home, or if you are stuck at the office with no food in sight, that's my recommendation.

You start to appreciate food more while on a cleanse, that is for sure!

Why juicing might not so good for you

You notice there is a lot of parsley added to the juices. This is because parsley contains lots of Vitamin K, a lot of antioxidants, which helps our bones and strengthens our nervous system.(that's good!) But I only learnt later that Parsley, other green leafy vegetables and beets contain a lot of oxalates and goitrogens. I will go into that some other time why that is actually not so good for some people like myself (oxalates can form crystals in your body and can cause kidney stones, goitrogens slow down a thyroid). Not to mention the high sugar intake which research suggests due to the lack of fiber that helps release sugar slowly into the blood system, a juice is causing a sugar spike. And juices that are not pasteurized, can bring harmful bacteria to your gut which can cause a whole other range of issues.

Maybe, just maybe, juice cleansing was a hype from 2006-2016, and now people just have one juice once a while and are onto another fad, like Keto or Paleo?

Related: Why no one does juice cleanses anymore

Organic Avenue used to offer their juices in glass bottles, but they were more expensive as there was a fee for returning the bottles. Now they serve the juices in BPA- free plastic, I thought that was a nice thing! Of course with the demise of Organic Avenue, their bottles are gone too. (I just kept one as a souvenir).

If you want to do a cleanse, there are many places in New York City and beyond to get a juice from, including Juice Press, Pressed Juicery ,Blueprint and Juice Generation

p.s. for my readers in the Netherlands: you can order from Sapmeesters.

Healthy Food: Ask and you shall receive

I've had crazy weeks in my life... 4am starts, 12am wraps, you know - all those glam 'life of a model' moments. Nothing I hate more than eating stuff that makes me feel lethargic, heavy and clogged. Unfortunately when working long hours or late sometimes models have to choose between skipping a meal or eat fatty, processed, or chemically treated food! Certainly not the ideal for a gorgeous figure and face that needs using again tomorrow, the day after, and hopefully the day after that.

Little collage of my green juice, quinoa salad, and lovely location of one of my shoots last week.

How I prepare for photo shoots

I usually pack an enormous fridge bag full of healthy food like dehydrated snacks, green juices, organic salad vege's and fresh fruits, bottles of my 'Supergorgeous Almond Mylk' and plenty of raw chocolate options for snacking, such as my raw cacao protein bars (from the book), goji berries and cacao beans, and a nice big slab of raw chocolate. It lasts a few days usually.. This time, unfortunately I ran out.

That one time I ran out of healthy snacks

I was driving 4 hours homeward bound, late at night with only a few hours sleep from the night before and soo tired. I was wishing I had some delicious SOMETHING to keep me awake and there was no organic coffee, or organic anything at the service stations... So I asked for something crazy! I wanted a Chia Latte but without the 'powder' they make it on which is full of sugar, flavorings and other evil things... but they couldn't get their head round that one, so I asked for a 'Earl Grey' (delicious tealeaves infused with Bergamot) Latte with a big pinch of cinnamon and a spoonful of honey and, made on non GM soy (lucky they had this!). It was the best of a bad bunch and ended up tasting delicious! I drank it with the last of  my healthy snacks, my dehydrated cacao cookies and felt very thankful.

My delish raw cacao cookies, makes for perfect travel food ;)

Boost Juice on my way home

On another big drive home I was fortunate enough to have access to a Boost Juice bar (a juice bar chain all over Australia) where I custom ordered a beetroot, pineapple, lemon and ginger juice and asked them to create a frappe with it adding in frozen mango, and green tea powder and it was PERFECT!

Organic farmers market tomatoes made a yummy energizing snack!

Ask and you shall receive

I'm writing this post to encourage you to be bold! Go ahead, ask for crazy things to suit your needs! Even in places that you think won't have any healthy food that you could eat. The more we do this, the more people will realize the need to have healthier, raw, GF/ DF/ SF, organic, non-GM etc options available in places where now there is only fast food as an option.

Get the right running shoes for you

I have been trying to improve my running skills for the past years ,and I have learned and experimented with things that really makes "the ride" more enjoyable. Usually listening to the perfect playlist, having good earphones and controlling your breathing were the first steps I had in mind, but it seems to be not enough!

The right shoes for running

I have found out that wearing the right running shoes is mandatory if you're looking to have the perfect run. In the past, not only did I not ever get a good run but also and most important: I could injury my body pretty bad.

So I did some research and visited couple shoe stores  to find the right running shoes. After a treadmill test, I had discovered my feet were over pronators, which basically means that I strike the ground with my heel and it rolls inward onto the front... Then I bought the model with most support on the back and construction to wrap up my mid foot giving it a glove- like fit. Stability and support are strict needed in my case.

See back support of my right running shoe
See back support of my right running shoe

Get yourself a good posture

Also because all of that, I have started to rebuild my sense of good posture, as before I did not have good shoes, but now feeling confident and protected by my new companions, I gained the consciousness on how to move my whole body. In my daily walking routine I  have been trying to correct some mistakes made in the past by continuously repeating bad habits -  it's not as easy as it seems-determination and focus are keys to success!

You might also have either over pronation or under pronation. If you're lucky, you have a neutral running gait. Check your most worn running shoes soles to see which kind are you, they should look like one of these:

Don't forget to ALWAYS stand on both feet!

And good luck running with in your perfect gait!

Healthy snacks on the GO!

I've been asked a lot what I do to avoid unhealthy eating habits , so this article is dedicated to that. Some basic actions can really save your day!

Everywhere I go, I try to look for new places where I can find exciting organic food options. Also I go for greener options as much as I can, re using plastic and paper bags or water bottles for example - and always manage my diet to be the best as possible in the most different situations.

foto 1

Airplane Food

I don't like how plane food tastes and how it makes you feel bloated - so I've found a solution for it: always pack a few healthy snacks and a nice home made meal to eat on the plane...

I spend so much time in airports and airplanes that if I don't take proper care, I will end up eating something not good for me. The first time I made my own bowl with plenty of healthy food I felt much more vitality and energy to handle those never ending 10 hours seated on a plane. Everyone should try it! No shame! Even the plane staff helped me out heating the meal, and there it goes a tip if you wanna do the same: take an aluminum bowl to make it easier, then ask someone to heat for you just the way they do it with regular food they serve it.

fotoThis beautiful plate was made with love by my boyfriend and it's all organic quinoa beets and carrots with tilapia filet and caramelized onions and some boiled egg whites! YUMMY

foto 3That meal was the first one we made to eat healthy on the go: Brussels sprouts, broccoli, sweet potatoes and fish filet

Snacks at work

Sometimes at work, snacks before or after lunch time, are not nutritious enough to help me get going through my day of hard work. So again I've found a solution. I ALWAYS take with me energy protein bars, nuts and other organic healthy snacks in little bowls that fit in my bag. I will never go to work unprepared, because we never know what's for breakfast and lunch. I'm known by stylists and beauty artists for doing it ( they usually sees me sneaking in my purse ), they call me "smart girl" and I have the pleasure to share my treats with them.

These are a few simple things you could integrate in to your routine, or if you don't have a routine (in my case).  You just need to think ahead of all difficult situations you're gonna be dealing with, so you are prepared for everything!

Follow these tips on a daily basis:

  • Try not to stay more than 3 hours without eating, ALWAYS have some good snacks with you, otherwise will won't even notice that it's been hours since you bite something.
  • Drink water! sometimes your body will trick you, so you might think you're hungry and would end up cheating with bad snacks, when your body it's JUST thirsty !
  • If you don't exercise that much ( or as much as you'd like to ); always goes for smart choices: stairs instead of elevators, go walking or biking to work  - do not ever lose a chance of moving your body!

Vanilla-Chiaseed Mylkshake

As a girl one of my favorite things was a cold vanilla milkshake. Usually made with lots of sugar, dairy milk, ice-cream. Definitely not a healthy way to get re-energized, in my opinion. Throughout summer I like to make each member of my family a juice daily, & a smoothie or 'mylkshake' (the truefood alkalizing energizing mylkshake you have when you are NOT having a milkshake!). Here's today's simple & delicious recipe!

Vanilla-Chiaseed Mylkshake
The truefood alkalising energizing mylkshake you have when your NOT having a milkshake!

Recipe type: smoothie
Serves: 2

Prep time:
Cook time:
Total time:

Ingredients
  • 2 young green coconuts, water & pulp
  • 1-2 tablespoons soaked chiaseeds (at least 15 min but best overnight) + more to stir through later if desired
  • 1-2 tablespoons light agave, more if you want it really sweet
  • The scraped seeds from an organic vanilla pod OR natural vanilla extract
  • 10 icecubes (optional but really good!)

Instructions
  1. BLEND coconut water, pulp, chia, agave & vanilla together until very smooth & creamy, adding the ice last & blend again.
  2. If you love chia seeds as much as I do, stir through another spoonful of whole soaked chia seeds for texture. Divide into 2 tall glasses & enjoy!

Notes
A Bonus: Coconut water is PACKED with super-hydrating goodness (means - a facial, for your cells) PLUS it's naturally high in lauric acid which actually BURNS fat for me as I sit here sipping & typing ;)
