Beet Pineapple Cucumber Juice

If you have been reading my posts, you know that I’m all about smoothies, juices and raw food recipes. I love to be creative in the kitchen and raw vegetables and fruits are huge inspiration to me.

Sometimes I go to supermarket without knowing what I want for dinner, I just buy what’s in-season and look for fresh ingredients. I don’t remember last time I bought something that is canned, bottled or frozen… Anyways, back to my veggies :)

When I get home, I simply put my produce on the table and start creating my meal: it can be blended soup, big salad, a smoothie, raw pasta made with zucchini, or just simple juice.

One morning I made a beet-pineapple-cucumber juice. WOW! It came out so incredibly delicious! It’s a real treat!

Before you run to your juicer (I hope I inspire you so much, that you have to “run” to make my recipes) I must warn you, that after juicing all the ingredients, my kitchen turned out to be  a crime scene - deep red color with drops of blood aka beet juice everywhere! Even on a ceiling.

But trust me, the mess is so worth the result!

Breakfast smoothie

Hello, lovely OYL readers! Today I want to share a breakfast smoothie. It contains fruits - for vitamins, leafy greens - for minerals and avocado - for fat (natural, high quality plant-based fat), which is a key ingredient for beautiful, glowing skin.

Juice top 5 for hot weather

When the weather is hot, you need to cool down! Below is my simple Juice top 5 for any hot Summer day. (no sugar added)

fruits

1. Fruit flavored water /ice tea

Add slices of lemon, lime & mint to your cold water with ice cubes. Any other fruit like fresh berries is delicious too! You can also make this an ice tea version by making hot tea and letting it cool off and adding it to the water.

Coconut Water

2. Coconut water

This is my nr. 1 favorite cooling down drink. It's delicious, but coconut water is also a great sports drink and rehydrates your body like no other drink (the PH values of coconut water are the same as of your blood!)

3. Cucumber juice

Yes try it: juice 2 or 3 cucumbers and cool this drink for an hour. It is so simple and delicious!

Watermelon Juice Gui Valente 2

4. Water melon juice

This is sooo good! Also, juice half a melon and you have a delicious, nutritious juice!

Gui Valente (black belt Jiu-Jitsu) loves watermelon juice too!

5. Mint & pear juice cocktail

Blend a juicy pear, mint with crushed ice. don't forget a (glass) straw! It is so refreshing

Stay cool!

Quinoa with vegetables recipe

quinoa with vegetables

Great recipe for lunch or light dinner! (eating heavier in the middle of the day and lighter at night is better for your digestion anyway!)

Shopping list for 1 (buy organic and local when possible)

-Quinoa

-2 tomatoes

- 1cucumber

- handful of cashews

-  handful of dried apricots

- a bit of parsley

-salt/pepper

-extra virgin olive oil

Costs of my dish: Less than $6 per person.

How to make:

Rinse the quinoa with water. Boil for 15 minutes in a stockpot with water and a pinch of salt.  Take of fire, drain and cool of with cold water. drain again.

Wash and cut in pieces (organic) tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. Mix into the quinoa with a bit of olive oil, salt, pepper.

Top off with cut dried apricots, cashews and parsley and you are ready!

You can add any vegetable, seed or fruit you like. Avocado tastes great with it too!

If you start cooking the quinoa and in mean time prepare the other food, you really only need about 16 minutes to make this meal! Woohoo!

Immunity Booster - Juice with cucumber, oranges, celery, pepper

Made this juice the other day, and it tasted so good! I called it “immunity booster” cause this juice is full of vitamin C, which helps us to fight colds and flu. Drink this when u feel a little “off”. No medicine ever tasted as good as this recipe :)

  • *1 large cucumber
  • *3 oranges
  • *3 stalks of celery
  • *1 red bell pepper

Carrot Orange Cucumber juice

When I opened the fridge this morning I found a bag of carrots, oranges and a lonely cucumber laying inside. So, I made a healthy yummy juice for myself!

Don't waste

It got me thinking, that you can always come up with a great and tasty meals using what's left in you fridge. Don't waste! If you have to travel for a few days, make a soup of all the veggies the night before. You can always freeze it and eat later.

Just juice everything and enjoy!

5 Foods That I Eat Every Day

1. Cucumber

I juice it every morning with other vegetables. It is so hydrating for the skin. Cucumber will make your skin look young and fresh.

2.Kale

I use kale in my salads as a green base; I add other veggies as well. Or I use it in my green smoothies (banana, apple 1 cup of water and kale). The other way to use kale is to juice it with other veggies and fruits. Kale contains lots of fiber, vitamins K and C, calcium.

3.Himalayan Pink Salt

Your body needs 1 teaspoon a day of a high quality salt. I love Pink salt, it is full of minerals and it makes everything tastes better! I add a pinch of Pink Salt at the very end, so I don’t destroy vitamins and minerals in a cooking process.

4. Olive Oil

Our bodies need a good fat to keep us healthy and slim. Choose Organic Cold Press Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Toss it in your salad instead of mayonnaise or any other commercial dressings. I use 2 – 4 Tablespoons a day.

5.Lemon.

Every morning I squeeze a fresh lemon in a glass of water for an extra detox. Contains Vitamin C for immune system, but the best quality of a lemon is that it keeps our body alkaline.

This is not the only food that I eat! Those 5 foods I include in my diet every single day TOGETHER with other whole foods: fruits, veggies, nuts, fish, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, dark chocolate, green tea, organic coffee and last but not least – pure clean water!
