Ever indulged in Thalassotherapy?… Big word hey! Thalassotherapy is like hydrotherapy, only it is special as it is made using mother ocean. Usually if taken at a day spa you’ll sink into sea water which has been heated, sometimes with algae, seaweeds, & perhaps clays added. Expect to pay up to $400 for a treatment & reap the healthy rewards.

Personally, I love to make my own ‘Thalassotherapy’ at home. It’s so easy really, as well as being much cheaper, and I find my ‘sea of blackness’ (what I call my seaweed beauty baths!) excellent for detoxifying the body, as well as being highly balancing & healing. Considering the high mineral content found in sea produce or extracts I find this bath especially wonderful for pain relief, & re-energizing tired muscles.

Take 500g epsom salts, 1/2 cup kelp powder or dulse flakes or both, 1 tablespoon green clay, & a few drops of your favourite essential oils, I like to use energising or calming oils depending on my needs… Add ingredients to a warm running bath & relax for a minimum of 30 minutes.

My favourite thing to do is stay beauty bathing for a whole hour, during this time I take three 3 minute long cold showers in between hot sessions, finishing with cold.
