You always need to do something special with your loved one on Valentine’s Day. It does not matter how big or small, it is always a nice time to show how much you love each other!
So that’s what I did with my boyfriend last year. As we love the old cities in Belgium, we drove one and a half hours to a city called Brugge ( Bruges in english), which is the capital and largest city in West Flanders, in the flemish region of belgium, and not far from the coast of Belgium.
But it is not that big! only about 110000 people live here.This place is so cute! No wonder it is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site! All the houses are small, and there are many canals in the city. Bruges is sometimes referred to as “Venice of the north”. So you can take a boat ride, and get a tour to see all the historic spots. ( it was too cold I thought to do it in the winter).
We stayed at lovely boutique hotel Die Swaene, which is definitely worth staying at! The people are so friendly, and we got a room right on the canal, with a fireplace, so you can imagine it was very romantic! The picture I added is the view from our window.
Belgium is known for great food and chocolates! You can find many chocolate shops here ( oh so good!). A lot of restaurants are great, but if you are into fish, you should check out “de Visscherie”, next to the fish market in Brugge.
On our stroll through the city, we saw many organic and ecofriendly places. So I will add the things I saw later.
Bruges is for sure a really nice place to visit, for one day, or a few days, with friends or…. your Love!
