Diet
Tags: diet | health | proteins | vegetables | fibers | irene |

Ok this makes it official.
I’m going on a DIET!!

Not some fancy programs or hyped superplans.
This time I’m going to eat HEALTHY!

Promises I made to myself:
I will…
…eat low-fat,
…eat no sugar,
…spread my food more across the day (instead of stuffing my face two or three times a day),
…never ever skip breakfast,
…drink lots of water (one big glass before I eat) and try to reach 3 liters a day,
…eat lots of proteins, vegetables and fibers,
…chew my food more thoroughly,
…only take a bite if my mouth is empty (haha that means I have to pay attention to what I eat),
…eat all the stuff I allow myself when I feel hungry (mental check if I’m really hungry or just bored),

So this should get me a little bit healthier!
(ok,ok, a LOT!! ---- > not in denial!!!)

This blog should keep me focused and committed!
I will write some more in the future about stuff I find about different foods or mental tips etc. that help me in my quest.

Healthcare for all....
Tags: president | obama | health care | usa |

in the USA!

President Obama has had his first success yesterday in his battle to a better Health Care system in the USA. His bill passed in which he makes sure all americans have Health Care coverage. Right now about millions of Americans are uninsured. Republicans in the House opposed to the bill but finally a 219-to-212 vote made the bill pass.

For over hundred years, presidents both Republican and Democrats, have tried to reorganize the healthcare system. So this is definitely a historic moment!

Below you see links of the pro Health Care for all, and against this bill comments. I personally think basic Health Care should be available to all. It works in my home country the Netherlands. We all pay a basic fee for basic healthcare. We can add things for extra costs. But I also still believe that you should be able to choose your own doctor, if you want to pay extra. The best doctors are more expensive, just like the best lawyers are more expensive.... but basic health care should already be good...

I am curious what this bill will do and when this new Health Care plan will start!

Spring is here!

It is Official today: Spring is here!

And it was time don't you think? I have had enough of the cold of the past months!

The first sunshine means time for a big clean up of your home!
The windows are washed, the house is being cleaned thoroughly, and everything you don't really need anymore is thrown away. The flea markets are very busy during these times: people want to see if they can make a buck out of their unwanted stuff. Maybe someone else will see it as their treasure? That is true recycling, and makes everyone happy!

Your clothing closet also need a reorganization. We pull out everything, and surprise: There are some items we forgot we had! All winter coats and clothing are folded and put in boxes or bags and stowed away for next winter. We are looking at our summer collection: Anything great? Anything we really can't wear anymore? All the things you don't want, does not mean someone else could love it! Have your friends over and see if they want any of your unwanted items. Maybe you make one of them happy! Or you sell it at a flea market, or bring it to the Salvation Army? That is better than really throwing it away with the garbage!

It is nice to clean everything! Clean kitchen, living room, bed room, bathroom... Maybe you want to reorganize any of those rooms? As a new fresh start of the season?

If you have a garden or terrace: clean it up! Bring out your garden furniture! Take care of the plants and trees? Who survived the cold? The first flowers are coming out, the first baby lambs and foals are being born... such a pretty sight!

A clean home means a clean head. You are ready for the Spring season if everything that reminds you of Winter is stored , and everything is cleaned up. You are ready for the warmth coming your way!
