HI EVERYONE!!

I just got back from an amazing 2 week vacation, first  a week in TEXAS (yeehah!) visiting my boyfriends family. Then we went to GUATEMALA to visit my grandma who has lived there for 33 years now.

I wanted to share some pictures of the amazing fruit and avocado (which im not sure is a fruit or vegetable at this point haha)

My grandma has the most beautiful tropical garden. I cant tell you hooowwww exciting I got when I saw her avocado tree and the beautiful avocados hanging from the branches.

yes, I ate avocados plucked from her tree..

this is what it looked like when I cut them open

DELICIOUS!

I also had fresh squeezed orange juice from the orange tree in my grandmas garden…

We went to lots of fruit and vegetable markets, there are so many crazy looking fruits you would never find in New York. We found this one particular, spiky looking fruit, I feel terrible but I forgot the name (I will ask my grandma and let you all know)

It was so sweet and delicious. The way you eat this fruit is by pulling it apart..

AAANNDDD finally, my favorite ever..PAPAYA!

Was there good local coffee in Guatemala, seems like it’s often the coffee of the day in cafes sometimes? Did Grandma retire there? I read in MSNBC about Americans retiring in Central America, and Panama was profiled in depth, and they loved it, they said it was sunny and mid-70′s year round.

Aaron yes there is only amazing coffee there!! I had a a few cups of really delicious coffee every morning with a slice of banana bread (o my god, cant tell you how delicious this banana bread was)
For some reason the coffee i drank there didn’t make me hyper or give me anxiety like most coffee’s in NY make me feel when I drink too much of it.
It was pretty fascinating, sooo many coffee plants everywhere when driving around, especially the area my grandma lives, Antigua. They sell it at starbucks, all over the world I noticed recently.
Whats kind of interesting is somebody told me that buying coffee in Antigua is really expensive because most of it gets exported..yes my grandma did move there when she was retired specifically there because she believes in reincarnation, and felt she lived there in a past life. :) You have to visit her, she has the most amazing home with a gorgeous tropical garden :)

mmm Mallory, sounded great to start the mornings, if the coffee was brewed the same way, could’ve been that you felt more relaxed in the place and situation, like a vacation, and I imagine NYC + caffeine=hyper, haha, so was a situational thing. That’s amazing to follow the karmic intuition like that, those deja vu moments are fascinating to ponder when one feels it.

I absolutely love Guatemala! My father is from there and I spent some time living there when I was a child. Mallory, you are so lucky for having spent some time at Antigua (which also happens to be a UNESCO site). I think Antigua is the best place to retire in Guatemala since it’s peaceful and the scenery is breathtaking.
