I believe that we all have our favorite perfume that just right for us. But I think sometimes It’s a good idea to skip your commercial perfume routing, because God knows how much chemicals had been added to it.

Better and healthier alternative is essential oils. Pick your favorite at your health food store. There are hundreds different varieties, depends what you are looking for.

Here are my top favorites:

Lavender.I add a few drops to my coconut oil after I take a shower before I’m going to bed. It calms me after a stressful day and puts me in the mood for a nice and relaxing night.

Jasmine. It smells like heaven! I use it ever morning. I add few drops to my wrists and behind the ears. So fresh and sensual!

Tangerine. I use it before I go work out. Tangerine is very uplifting and I get into “go-go” mood.

Grapefruit. Add a few drops of a Grapefruit essential oil into your natural body cream.

I love essential oils, too! In a Spanish class I took,I had to do a report (en Espanol) on all the chemicals in perfumes,so I don’t use them at all;the only that is kind of safe is Stella McCartney.
I use lavender oil every day,and Kuumbua Made’s Perisan Garden, they have it at Whole Foods,it smells so amazing! and also Sun’s Eye Mystic Blends Guardian Angel oil,it has Hyssop in it.I always put a lot of lavender oil in my pillows and under my nose when I go to sleep;especially on planes!

I love essential oils, too;in my Spanish class I had to a presentation on the chemicals in perfumes,so I don’t wear them anymore! Just Stella McCartney once in a while.I wear lavender oil every day,and put it on my pillow so I sleep well.I also like these organic oil blends with no chemicals or toxic ingredients in them: Kuumba Made Perisan Garden and Sun’s Eye Guardian Angel oils.

Wonderful post Val ! I love essential oils- I use the same brands that you have posted here from WF. I just replenished my Peppermint oil yesterday ;) That is my top pick for any pain/headaches/stressful situations, I also carry Lavender oil with me to have access to anytime, sometimes I just smell it to rejuvenate during the day when I am out and about (ior couple it after I wash with Bronner’s Lavender), I love Jasmine too, and I love the tip about tangerine… so good to use before a workout – gives you a natural zing! Will definitely be looking into that one. I also like Neroli, which would be good to mix with grapefruit. I love the essential oil section at WF!! I find them really magical, and fully believe in aromatherapy healing properties xoxo

Just found your website, it’s beautiful! I love essential oils and once I discovered them, I stopped using perfume. Essential oils are so much better. But they can be used for so much more than just perfume! Diffusing them can kill viruses and pathogens in the air. Pure therapeutic quality oils can be ingested and used the same as you would use over the counter medicines.

My favorites are peppermint, ginger, lavender and Sandalwood. I also use some amazing blends like Citrus Bliss, the name says it all! OnGuard is an immune protecting blend that has kept me from getting sick on more than one occasion, and Serenity is instant relaxation in a bottle!!

I’ve been using essential oils for about 5 years. Not sure how I lived without them for so long. They are truly amazing!

    Thanks for the informative post.

    Hi Valentina,
It’s a real pleasure reading your posts, I admire your way of living!
As a ballet dancer, I do take care a lot of my skin and I use every night a mix of Nigelle oil (vegetal oil) and Lavender.
I tried the Tee tree oil but this is too aggressive for me, I somehow wanna try the Geranium one…. sounds exotic!

Yes, I am! I am a professional ballet dancer =)
I wish i could say it’s never too late to start ballet but it is easier when you start really young =)
Thanks for the movie, I’ve never heard about it so i’m quite curious now! Wish you a good week-end! Bisous.

I like to mix jasmine and lavender together…I studied ballet for 15 years,I miss it but always carry the love of dance with me.And Val,you are never too young to take a ballet class! Go on and have fun! It’s a beautiful thing,I’m sure there are plenty of studios in New York! :-)
Val you might want to spell check: “Essential oils” instead of essencial oil :-)

Love these ideas… not sure if anybody knows, but would putting an essential oil in with laundry do any damage to clothing? stains, ect. Love the smell of fresh laundry, but need to use unscented now :(
    Thanks ;)
